For every sport a certain level of fitness is important. Some sports require speed and power, others strength and still others require flexibility. In most cases a combination of these will be needed but the specific requirements vary with the sport.
In most cases it is necessary to establish a basic general level of fitness before moving on to fitness training which is sports specific. The training requirements for a sprinter are quite different for those required by a marathon runner or a tennis player.
Having developed a basic level of fitness a program can be designed which incorporates 'real world' three dimensional movement corresponding to those occurring in the chosen sport. This improves the mobility, balance, strength etc. which are relevant to the sport, resulting in increased performance and lower risk of injury when actually competing.
For specific techniques & tactics a specialist coach is indispensable but for general and sports specific fitness a program designed specifically for you and monitored on a one to one basis can produce outstanding results and may produce that competitive edge.
